Service restoration has been completed on the northern-bound pathways. Invercargill and Dunedin regions can route successfully again. Southbound fibre break is still a work in progress, but preferential routing will take place until it is completely restored.

[2025-04-16 15:55:26 NZST] Update: Third-party technicians have located the damaged fibre area on-site for the second fibre cut at Oamaru. Excavation works have begun to expose the damaged fibre. The fibre cable was damaged while contractors were undertaking maintenance work on the rail lines.

Service restoration via fibre overlays has begun on the first site southbound towards Gore now.

[2025-04-16 13:57:24 NZST] Update - this service outage has had cascading effects, causing some outages and service disruptions. We are still waiting to hear from the upstream provider regarding this resolution. As a result, we've expanded the services affected by this outage.

Technicians are on-site addressing fibre cut southbound towards Gore at this stage.

[2025-04-16 12:51:22 NZST] Fibre break has been identified into paths - southbound towards Gore and another towards Oamaru which is likely to be resolved later this afternoon.


[2025-04-16 12:43:14 NZST] Lightwire Engineers have been made aware of service disruption due to a fibre cut in Dunedin region. Technicians are attending site and isolating services to work on restoration.
