Due to recent weather events, Lightwire's Manawahe transmission site is nearing battery backup depletion due to extended power outages in the region.

Technicians are currently in route to extend the run time of the site, but the site may go offline before we are able to attend to it.

Lightwire Technicians have restored service to the Tower and with all checks passing have been cleared to leave the site.

[2026-04-13 08:46:53 NZST] A Lightwire technician has arrived on site and is currently working to resolve the ongoing fault.

[2026-04-12 14:23:52 NZST] Lightwire engineers have been unable to resolve the outage remotely, and suspect a hardware failure.

Lightwire field service technicians will attend the site with replacement hardware once it is safe to do so. This will depend on weather conditions at the site, so we have no ETR at this time.

[2026-04-12 13:48:45 NZST] Lightwire engineers are aware of an unplanned service outage at our Tahuna tower site. Investigations are underway to determine the cause and restore service.
